Practice Day At Oakhill Cancelled

February 6, 2014 (Alvord, Texas) – Oakhill Raceway has cancelled organized practice for tomorrow (Friday, February 7) and instead is focused on working the track for the best possible conditions for Round 4 of the AMA Texas Winter Series this weekend.

Jeff Oldenburg is mixing sand into the track and working the dirt.  Much like Round 3 at Swan, the mornings will have lows around 30 and both days are forecasted for sunshine and highs around 50 degrees.  This is the only race weekend riders will have before the GNC Finals so riders will use the time as a Warm-Up for the spring event.

“It was 2006 at Lake Whitney for Round 4 of the series and we raced Saturday while it snowed 1/2 inch” said Tom Shields, Marketing Director.  “We made an announcement early that morning to warn people about stepping out of the RV’s.  Everyone’s aluminum steps had ice on them and we didn’t want people looping out of their motor homes.”

Gates hours on Friday will be from 4pm until 11pm and reopening at 6am on Saturday.  Registration will open on Friday from 5 to 7pm and then again starting at 6:30am on Saturday.  For more information, go to http://67.205.147.236/racing/events-2/texas-winter-series/.
