December 30, 2014 (Wortham, Texas) – Mother nature is not going to keep Freestone Raceway from kicking off Round 1 of the 15th Annual Honda of Houston/FMF AMA Texas Winter Series however Friday’s practice day and the FMF Test-N-Tune is looking doubtful. There will be an official announcement at 9am on Thursday to address practice day.
As far as the race weekend, Round 1 is a “GO” as scheduled. The Freestone track crew having been rolling the track in and packing it tight. Over the last 6 months, a lot of effort has been put into raising the track surface above grade in certain areas. As you may know, the Freestone Pro Pits has crushed rock throughout the area inside and outside the fencing so parking is never an issue for any size rig.
Early registration for Round 1 remains open until 11pm tonight (Tuesday). If practice is cancelled on Friday (duh), gates will open at 4pm on Friday, January 2nd and close at 11pm. Registration at the track will open from 5-7pm on Friday night. Additionally, early registration is now open for Round 2 of the AMA Texas Winter Series at Swan MX Raceway Park.
