March 15, 2014 (Wortham, Texas) – In cooperation with Oakley, Freestone County Raceway is once again bringing the O Lap Award for the fastest lap during “timed practice” at the James Stewart AMA Spring Championship on Tuesday, March 18th.
Every class will hit the track on Tuesday and for 20 select classes, the rider with the fastest lap time will receive an Oakley Holeshot watch for their efforts. In total, Freestone will give away $13,000 in Oakley watches ($650 retail value each).
At the Freestone Spring Championship, every riders 1st moto gate pick is based on their lap times from practice. In the case of classes with divisions, this allows the divisions to be evenly balanced with riders to make it as fair as possible. For amateurs looking to make the step to the pro’s one day, “timed practice” gives riders the sense of what its like to make a “flier” lap.
