Changes Abound at Freestone

March 7, 2016 (Wortham, Texas) – Everyone gets all excited when the new model bikes come out.  The same can be said about changes to rules, tracks or venues.  When the gates open one week from today, the 6th Annual James Stewart Freestone Spring Championship presented by Parts Unlimited and Thor may show more changes in 2016 than in the 5 previous years combined.

Over 230 semi loads of rock will greet everyone when parking at the Freestone Spring Championship.  After historic rains in Texas during the first 6 months of 2015, Freestone Raceway prepared for 2016 the only way it knows how with the families in mind.  Because of the rains last year, parking was very spread out and was not efficient.  Now parking will be like it was designed to be so everyone is closer to staging with over 16 acres of solid rock parking.

The next major change is the track itself.  The signature Texas 12-pack has been replaced with a new 6-pack switch-back.  To follow that, the finish line step-up has been shaved down and the landing as been extended followed by another chicane after the landing.  Other changes include the #7 triple step-up is now and step-up table.  With all the changes, everyone will want to make the official Dunlop Track Walk on Monday (March 14th 3pm).

Early registration ends today (March 7th) at 11pm.  If you miss out on signing up early, registration at the track will open on Monday, March 14th at 7am.  For the week daily schedule, check out the Spring Championship page on FreestoneMX.com.
