January 2, 2015 (Wortham, Texas) – Some of the secrets in making a cold ride day manageable is to protect your hands. Yes the Texas Winter Series is the roughest, toughest for a reason but that doesn’t mean you should not prepare. Here are a couple tips to protect a riders hands.
- Wear rubber gloves under your MX gloves. This helps break the wind going through the MX glove.
- Stop by your local Wal-Mart on the way and look for “Hot Hands” (TM) hand warmers. They slide perfectly inside the MX Glove next to the skin to keep your knuckles warm.
Another helpful tip is to wear a hoodie under your jersey. Under the jersey is better since gear companies don’t want to see their company logo’s covered up. Even if your are not sponsored by the gear company, the MX jersey should always be on the outside because it’s easier for scoring and announcers to identify you.
Gates open at 4pm today at Freestone Raceway for Round 1.
