December 5, 2016 (Wortham, Texas) – Freestone Raceway is excited to announce that “EARLY REGISTRATION” is now opened for the 7th Annual James Stewart Freestone Spring Championship presented by Parts Unlimited and Thor featuring the AMA Women’s Motocross Cup and WMX Pro’s. The 2017 event is more compact with fewer classes and more competitive racing. Surprise your special racer on Christmas morning with registration papers confirming to your loved one they are headed to Texas in March.
With the focus of growing youth participation, Freestone Raceway is offering new classes in the 65 and 85 divisions. Riders will now be able to compete in the 65cc (7-8) Limited and the 85cc (9-10) Limited. Also returning in 2017 is the youngest of all racers, the 51cc (4-5) Limited and 51cc (6-7) Limited.
Another push Freestone Raceway continues is the AMA Womens Motocross Cup. These classes are as unique as the event itself. Starting with the Girls 65 (7-11), Schoolgirl (14-16), Collegegirl (16-24) and Womens Vet, these classes are set to complement the other regular girls/womens divisions. The Freestone Spring Championship will offer the Girls Jr (9-13), Girls Sr (12-16), Womens (14+) Amateur and WMX Pro.
The JS7 Freestone Spring Championship is one of five events referred to as “the majors”. The season kicks off at the Daytona Amateur Supercross March 12th-13th, then shifts to Freestone Spring Championship. The majors begins to pick up the pace as riders begin to qualify for the AMA Amateur National Championship at Loretta Lynn’s through the area and regional championships. In June, the majors once again come together in the Sierra mountains at Mammoth Mountain. Once summer is about to end, the riders gather in Tennessee for the AMA Amateur National in August. The final gathering is back in the sunshine state in November for the Mini O’s at Gatorback Raceway.
